John Healey said that £600 million had been invested this year to accelerate drone deliveries for Kyiv’s armed forces.

The drones, including tens of thousands of short-range first-person-view models, are being used for reconnaissance, precision strikes, and disrupting Russian operations behind the front lines.

The Defence Secretary will state at the final meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group in Brussels on Wednesday that Western countries must “increase drone production to offset (Vladimir) Putin’s growing influence” amid rising drone attacks and violations of European airspace.

Western officials said that Russia launched around 5,500 one-way attack drones at Ukraine in September, a significant rise from 4,100 in August.
