New York, August 26 (Hibya) - The United Nations (UN) stated that attacks on journalists represent a direct threat to freedom of expression, stressing that protecting press freedom has become more important than ever.
In a statement, the UN emphasized that journalists play a vital role, especially at a time when reliable information is crucial. The organization highlighted that journalists who risk their lives to uncover the truth should not be targeted, sharing the message: “Journalists are not a target” (#NotATarget).
The United Nations called on all parties to ensure the safety of media professionals and the protection of freedom of expression.
