UNRWA: A ceasefire must mean security
New York, 29 January (Hibya) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) reported that despite the ceasefire being in effect in Gaza since 10 October 2025, bombs continue to fall.
In a statement, UNRWA said that according to the latest situation reports, shelters converted from UNRWA schools in Gaza were directly or indirectly hit throughout January, and seven of them were destroyed by Israeli forces.
The statement noted that despite the ceasefire being in force in Gaza since 10 October 2025, bombardments continue, adding: “The ceasefire was meant to bring an opportunity to breathe after two years of grief, pain, and deep and immense suffering for many people.”
The statement emphasized that a ceasefire must mean security.
