The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said it provides education, health care, water, sanitation and other essential services to more than 1.7 million people in Gaza.
UNRWA Acting Commissioner-General Christian Saunders said in a statement that the window for action was narrowing, but had not yet closed completely.
Emphasizing the need to uphold international law, protect the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people, support institutions providing services to the population and preserve the prospect of a just and lasting peace, Saunders said, “This is not a call for aid, but a call for responsibility.”
