UNRWA: Food aid distribution initiated through GHF
New York, June 7 (Hibya) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported on May 27 the commencement of food aid distribution through the newly established Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).
UNRWA stated that the distribution is being conducted at two points established in Rafah and Deir al-Balah. Since then, thousands of Palestinians have reportedly walked to these distribution points to receive food packages. However, numerous armed attacks have occurred, resulting in mass casualties.
On May 29, the Israeli cabinet announced the approval of 22 new settlements in the West Bank and the legalization of nine existing outposts. These settlements remain illegal under international law.
