U.S. Department of Defense: Operation carried out against the tanker M/T Tifani
Washington, April 21 (Hibya) – The United States (U.S.) Department of Defense announced that an inspection and boarding operation was carried out against a sanctioned tanker.
In a statement by the United States (U.S.) Department of Defense, it was reported that U.S. forces conducted a stop, inspection, and boarding operation against the tanker M/T Tifani in the INDOPACOM area of responsibility.
The statement said: “Global maritime security activities will continue in order to disrupt illicit networks and interdict sanctioned vessels that provide material support to Iran.”
The statement also noted: “International waters are not a safe haven for sanctioned vessels.”
The Department of Defense stated that the freedom of movement of actors and vessels engaged in illicit activities in the maritime domain will continue to be restricted.
