The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 423.31 points, rising 0.83 percent to 51,654.95 points. The S&P 500 index advanced 46.18 points, or 0.59 percent, to close at 7,811.54 points.
The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 172.83 points to 27,366.17 points, while the Nasdaq 100 index gained 157.339 points to reach 30,883.148 points. The Russell 2000 index, which primarily tracks small-cap companies, increased by 12.853 points to 2,806.981 points.
