European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen spoke about the Arctic region and economic relations among allied countries.

Emphasizing that regional security is based on cooperation, von der Leyen said: “Arctic security can only be ensured by working together. Therefore, the proposed additional tariffs, especially among long-standing allies, are a mistake.”

Stressing the need to adhere to the trade agreement between the EU and the United States, she added: “The EU and the US reached a trade agreement last July. A deal is a deal. When friends shake hands, it must mean something.”
