European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the payment aims to strengthen Ukraine's air defense capabilities and civilian security, adding that industrial and defense cooperation between Europe and Ukraine is growing stronger.

Referring to the scope of the support and cooperation, von der Leyen said, “With this payment, we are helping Ukraine protect its airspace and defend its people.”

Stating that the UAV agreement is taking shape, von der Leyen said, “At the same time, we are combining Europe's industrial scale with Ukraine's unique innovation. Our drone agreement is taking shape.”
