In her message marking India's Independence Day, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong highlighted the historic level of bilateral relations, emphasizing the strategic partnership and regional ties between the two countries.

Extending her congratulations, Wong said, "On the 80th anniversary of India's independence, I extend my best wishes to Dr. S. Jaishankar, the people of India and Australian communities of Indian heritage."

Referring to the shared goals of the two countries, Wong said, "As two countries committed to a peaceful, stable and prosperous region, Australia and India have never been closer."
