Zelensky: Russia launched attacks with 1,567 UAVs and 56 missiles in 48 hours
Kyiv, May 14 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia used 1,567 unmanned aerial vehicles and 56 missiles during intense attacks lasting approximately 48 hours, emphasizing that strengthening air defense systems is the “top priority.”
Ukrainian President Zelensky made statements regarding Russia’s intense attacks in recent days following a security meeting.
Zelensky stated that Russia used a total of 1,567 unmanned aerial vehicles and 56 missiles of various types during attack waves lasting approximately 48 hours. He said that air defense systems achieved a 94 percent success rate against UAVs and 73 percent against missiles.
Zelensky said the attacks were carried out with a strategy pre-planned by Russia and described as a “terror tactic,” emphasizing that ballistic missiles and infrastructure facilities were especially targeted.
The statement noted that serious damage occurred in regions including Kyiv, Rivne, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Kharkiv, that a large part of a residential building in Kyiv was destroyed, and that search and rescue operations are ongoing.
It was announced that at least 7 people have died and 39 have been injured in the attacks so far. Zelensky emphasized that increasing air defense capacity and supplying systems especially against ballistic missiles are an “urgent priority.”
