According to CCTV, one person was killed and 36 others were injured in explosions that occurred in central Damascus during French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to the city.

Syrian authorities told the state news agency SANA that security forces discovered two improvised explosive devices during field operations. The bombs exploded while preparations were underway to defuse them.

A preliminary investigation found that one of the explosives had been hidden inside a parked vehicle, while the other had been concealed in a roadside garbage container near the tourism directorate building. The investigation is ongoing.
