42 people are believed to have died in a migrant boat sinking in the Mediterranean
Stockholm, November 13 (Hibya) – The International Organization for Migration announced that seven people who had been missing at sea for six days after their boat capsized in the Mediterranean have survived, and an estimated 42 people are believed to have died.
Referring to the survivors, the UN agency said the rubber boat carrying 47 men and two women capsized on 3 November, six hours after departing from the Libyan coastal city of Zuara.
According to the latest data from the IOM’s Missing Migrants Project, the number of deaths on the Central Mediterranean route has surpassed 1,000 this year.
The IOM stated that the seven survivors were from Sudan, Nigeria, Cameroon and Somalia.
