A High Military Committee established in Yemen
Sana’a, January 11 (Hibya) — Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council announced the establishment of a new High Military Committee under the command of the Saudi-led coalition following the deadlock in the peace process.
According to CCTV, the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) said that after political solution efforts with the Houthis yielded no results, a High Military Committee was established under the command of the Saudi-led coalition to enhance military preparedness.
PLC Chairman Rashad al-Alimi stated that the new committee will be responsible for preparing, equipping, and commanding pro-government forces.
Al-Alimi also reported that in several southern provinces, notably Hadramaut, Al-Mahra, and Aden, government forces have reasserted control over state institutions and military bases from the Southern Transitional Council, emphasizing that dialogue sessions will be held with southern groups.
The announcement followed recent tensions and clashes between the Saudi-backed government and the Southern Transitional Council, which is alleged to be supported by the United Arab Emirates.
