Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand made a statement regarding her speech at the United Nations.

Noting that she spoke at the United Nations yesterday, Anand said: “We are facing serious challenges to the world order. But fundamentally, Canadians and billions of people around the world want to live in peace, prosperity and predictability.”

Anand said that Canada is therefore seeking to increase its strategic autonomy, adding: “I presented our plan to achieve this at the United Nations. We will diversify our ties, strengthen our strategic capacity with reliable partners and mobilize middle powers to act collectively and decisively.”
