Anand: Canada and Singapore to begin negotiations on economic framework
Ottawa, September 18 (Hibya) - Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand announced that they discussed regional security, critical minerals, energy and food security, and supply chains with Singapore.
Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand announced that talks had been held to further develop relations between Canada and Singapore.
Anand said Singapore is one of Canada's close partners in the Indo-Pacific, noting the region's growing economic and strategic importance. Anand said, “We discussed regional and maritime security, critical minerals, and Singapore's ASEAN chairmanship in 2027.”
Anand said a joint statement had been signed to launch negotiations on a Canada-Singapore Economic Framework, noting that the framework would focus on investment, emerging technologies and artificial intelligence, energy and food security, and strengthening supply chains.
