Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand said she will join Prime Minister Mark Carney and investors from countries around the world at Canada’s first Investment Summit in Toronto.

Anand said foreign direct investment reached $96.8 billion last year, the highest level recorded since 2007. Noting that some of the world’s largest investors will gather in Toronto, Anand said: “We have an opportunity to attract more capital to Canadian projects, create new trade corridors and connect our businesses to markets around the world.”

Anand said global capital is looking for new investment destinations, adding: “Canada is ready.”
