Anand: Freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb must be restored
Ottawa, September 13 (Hibya) — Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s legitimate government and called for the restoration of freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

Anand said Canada “strongly condemns” Houthi attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s legitimate government. Describing the attacks as an “unacceptable and dangerous escalation” of conflict and instability in the region, Anand stressed that they must end.
Anand said: “Freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb must be restored,” calling for an end to attacks on civilians, civilian infrastructure and commercial vessels.
