Anand: The Hip has been part of the history of many Canadians
Ottawa, August 23 (Hibya) – Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand shared her memories of the Canadian music group The Hip and highlighted the group’s place in the country’s culture.
Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand reflected on the musical legacy of The Hip and her own student years.
Emphasizing the group’s importance in Canadian society, Anand said, “The Hip has been the music behind many memories that are part of the history of many Canadians, especially those who were there when the band was formed in Kingston, Ontario.”
Giving an example from her own university years, Anand said, “For me, that includes evenings spent at Alfie’s at Queen’s University, where Gord Downie and The Hip played in the university pub.”
Anand concluded her statement by saying, “My favorite song is ‘New Orleans Is Sinking,’ and it still brings back wonderful memories.”
