As security concerns rise, a record number of Israelis are emigrating
Stockholm, October 25 (Hibya) – According to The Jerusalem Post, a record number of Israelis are emigrating from the country amid growing security concerns.
The Central Bureau of Statistics reported that 82,000 Israelis emigrated in 2023, and similar figures are expected this year — the highest since 2010.
Among those leaving are thousands of highly skilled professionals, including more than 8,000 from the high-tech sector between October 2023 and mid-2024.
Dr. Dalia Adler, a demographer at the Hebrew University, described the situation clearly: “This wave of emigration is unprecedented. Young and educated Israelis are leaving, and if we don’t act quickly, this could seriously harm Israel’s innovation and growth.”
For many Israeli officials and analysts, the steady outflow of skilled professionals during wartime and internal unrest is deeply concerning for workforce stability, security, and resilience.
Still, among Jewish communities worldwide — especially as antisemitism worsens elsewhere — sentiment toward moving to Israel remains positive. This could lead to waves of immigration that strain infrastructure and alter the demographic balance, turning Israel’s migration story into a complex mix of loss and gain.
