Australian FM Wong: Australia and Tuvalu are family
Canberra, July 29 (Hibya) – Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong stated that Australia will continue to support Tuvalu and amplify the voice of the Pacific, including through its COP31 candidacy.
Minister Wong emphasized that Australia remains committed to supporting Tuvalu and enhancing the Pacific’s voice, particularly through the COP31 bid.
She said that the Falepili Union has brought transformative change to improve the lives and livelihoods of Tuvaluans. “It is an agreement that respects Tuvalu’s sovereignty, culture, and identity, while also demonstrating that mobility can be built on dignity,” she said.
“Australia and Tuvalu are family,” said Wong.
She added, “It was an honor to host Prime Minister Feleti in Australia and to celebrate the opening of Tuvalu’s High Commission. We are committed to the Falepili Union, which reflects our dedication to the Blue Pacific and to each other’s security and prosperity.”
