According to CNN, Prime Minister Starmer stated during a press conference following a Cabinet meeting that the UK will recognize Palestine in September if Israel does not take concrete steps to end the “horrific situation in Gaza” and agree to a ceasefire.

Starmer said: “I have always said we would recognize the State of Palestine in order to contribute to a suitable peace process for a two-state solution. If the Israeli government does not take concrete action to end the terrible situation in Gaza, accept a ceasefire, and commit to a long-term sustainable peace that revives the two-state solution, I can confirm that the United Kingdom will recognize the State of Palestine at the UN General Assembly in September.”
