An official welcoming ceremony was held in Beijing on April 23 for Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev as part of his official visit to the People's Republic of China.

The ceremony took place in a large square decorated with the flags of both countries. A guard of honor was present for President Aliyev.

Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan welcomed Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva at the ceremony grounds.

During the ceremony, the Chinese delegation was introduced to President Aliyev, and the Azerbaijani delegation was introduced to President Xi. Then the national anthems of both countries were played.

The commander of the honor guard presented a report to President Aliyev. After saluting the guard, the two leaders posed for a photo together at the end of the ceremony.
