Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmail Baqaei claimed in a statement that Washington assumes countries do not remember the past and lack the capacity for critical thinking.

Baqaei compared US economic sanctions on Iran with measures aimed at preventing Iranian officials from shopping at an American wholesale club, arguing that Washington is pursuing a contradictory policy.

Claiming that the United States imposes sanctions targeting the livelihoods of the Iranian people, Baqaei alleged that Washington's policies contributed to the launch of an “unlawful war” against Iran.
