Deniz polisinden Adalar çevresinde 'deniz taksi' denetimi

Dutch Foreign Minister Berendsen met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

Stating that Europe faces a clear task to do more for its own security, Berendsen said: “NATO remains the cornerstone of our security. We discussed how Europe can take more responsibility within the alliance. Greater European contributions will strengthen the alliance in good cooperation with the United States.”

Berendsen noted that this requires more investment in defense capabilities and increased cooperation, adding that they also discussed developments on NATO’s southern flank.

Emphasizing that Ukraine is decisive for European security, Berendsen said: “Ukraine remains a priority. A strong Ukraine is decisive for Europe’s security. Support for Ukraine must remain a priority for all NATO members.”

Berendsen also held a phone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan.

Condemning Iran’s unprovoked attacks on Saudi territory, Berendsen said: “This is a dangerous escalation and a clear violation of sovereignty. We agreed to act in close coordination in line with developments.”

Berendsen stated that the Netherlands stands in solidarity with Saudi Arabia, adding: “We are grateful for their support in the evacuation of Dutch citizens.”
