Canada and Romania reaffirm commitment to strengthening defence and security cooperation
Bucharest, July 6 (Hibya) - Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand met with Romanian Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu during her visit to the Romanian capital, Bucharest.

The two ministers discussed ways to enhance cooperation between their countries in defence production, nuclear energy, and regional security.
Anand stated that Canada and Romania aim to work more closely in line with their shared security interests, highlighting Romania's strategic position on NATO's eastern flank. The meeting also addressed Russian drone incursions near Romania, continued support for Ukraine, and regional stability, including the situation in Moldova.
The two sides also welcomed the successful conclusion of negotiations on a new General Security of Information Agreement, which will strengthen information sharing in the fields of defence, security, and the nuclear sector.
