Canadian PM Carney: Saudi Arabia offers major opportunities for Canadian companies
Jeddah, July 9 (Hibya) - Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Foreign Minister Anita Anand made statements on strengthening cooperation with Saudi Arabia in the fields of energy, the economy and regional security.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Saudi Arabia offers significant new opportunities for Canadian energy sector workers and companies.
Commenting on his meeting with Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Al-Khorayef and Ma'aden CEO Robert Wilt, Carney said the two countries aim to deepen cooperation by building on their respective areas of expertise.
Carney said, "We will work more closely together and draw on the expertise of both countries to deliver larger projects and create greater prosperity for everyone."
Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand also commented on her meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
Anand said regional security issues were discussed during the meeting, with particular attention given to threats to maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz.
She stressed the importance of de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy in promoting peace and stability in the region.
Anand added that efforts to strengthen relations between Canada and Saudi Arabia are continuing, and that discussions also focused on deepening the economic partnership and creating new opportunities for Canadian companies and workers.
