Carney: We remember that new beginnings are always possible
Ottawa, September 11 (Hibya) - Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney wished the Jewish community a happy new year in a message issued on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney highlighted the message of renewal brought by the Jewish New Year and emphasized the determination to build an inclusive and free society in the country.
Referring to the meaning of Rosh Hashanah, Carney said: “At sunset this evening, Jewish communities across Canada and around the world will celebrate Rosh Hashanah and welcome the Jewish New Year.”
Describing the symbolic significance of the day, Carney said: “The sound of the shofar reminds us that we can always renew ourselves, that our work is never finished and that new beginnings are always possible.”
Carney said in his statement: “As we look to the year ahead, we will continue to build a country where Jewish Canadians can live their Jewish identity visibly, fully and joyfully in public life.”
