Canadian Prime Minister Carney said they were deeply shocked and saddened by the antisemitic terrorist attack during a Hanukkah event in the Bondi Beach area of Australia, which resulted in the deaths of 11 people.

Stressing that Canada stands in solidarity with the Australian people and Jewish communities worldwide, Carney said: “Canada once again reaffirms its determination never to yield to terrorism, violence, hatred and intimidation.”

Carney noted that Hanukkah symbolizes light in dark times, as well as the resilience and endurance of the Jewish people, adding: “To protect Jewish communities, strengthen this resilience and ensure at the most fundamental level that everyone can live safely in every aspect of our society, we must all support this resilience together.”
