China to suspend additional tariff on U.S. goods for one year
Stockholm, Nov 5 (Hibya) – China will suspend the additional 24% tariff on U.S. goods for one year starting November 10.
According to Global Times, citing the official statement from the State Council’s Customs Tariff Commission, as part of efforts to implement the results of the recent China-U.S. economic and trade negotiations, China announced on Wednesday that it will suspend additional tariffs on certain U.S. imports starting at 13:01 on November 10.
In another statement from the same commission, China also announced on Wednesday that as part of efforts to carry out the results of the recent economic and trade consultations with the United States, it will impose additional tariffs on certain U.S. imports starting at 13:01 on November 10.
In its notice concerning additional tariffs on U.S.-origin imports, China stated that it would adjust these measures. The 24% additional tariff rate will be suspended for one year, while the 10% rate will remain in effect.
According to the commission’s statements, both actions comply with tariff laws and the fundamental principles of international law, including the Customs Law and the Foreign Trade Law of the People’s Republic of China, and are implemented with the approval of the State Council.
