Czech President Petr Pavel issued a congratulatory message after Finnish President Alexander Stubb received the Atlantic Council Global Citizen Award in New York.

Pavel thanked Stubb for choosing him to present the award, noting that his Finnish counterpart has long worked for a strong Europe, transatlantic cooperation and shared security.

Pavel said Stubb combines experience, a broad perspective and the ability to look to the future, and also referred to the run they had together in Prague.

Pavel said, “Alex has long worked for a strong Europe, transatlantic cooperation and our shared security. He is able to combine experience, a broad perspective and the ability to look to the future. Keeping up with his pace is not easy outside politics either. When we ran together in Prague, I saw that he maintained the same pace on the course as well. Congratulations, Alex!”
