EU leaders extend sanctions against Russia for 12 months
Brussels, June 20 (Hibya) - European Union (EU) leaders have agreed to extend sanctions against Russia for an additional 12 months.
According to CCTV, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the decision means the EU’s package of economic sanctions against Russia has been renewed for one year for the first time.
The EU had previously extended these sanctions in six-month periods. Meanwhile, it was reported that the leaders agreed to reach a preliminary agreement by October on the long-term budget of approximately €2 trillion covering the 2028–2034 period.
According to the draft summit statement, disagreements among member states regarding the allocation of budget resources continue.
