Fiala: We must protect the values of freedom and democracy
Prague, 17 November (Hibya) – Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala commemorated the students who fought against totalitarian regimes and those who lost their lives in this struggle, emphasizing the importance of freedom and democracy.
Prime Minister Fiala made statements on the occasion of the Day of the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy. He said, “This day is to remember the students who bravely stood against Nazi and communist totalitarian regimes during difficult times. Some of them lost their lives because of their courage. Thanks to their determination and bravery, future generations can live in a free and democratic environment.”
He also noted that the values of freedom and democracy are fragile: “Let us protect the values associated with this day and uphold them. I wish you a pleasant holiday, and perhaps we will meet at Národní třída.”
