Ghebreyesus: Health facilities, patients and health workers must be protected under all circumstances
Geneva, November 9 (Hibya) - World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus condemned the attack on a hospital in Sudan’s Kordofan State.
WHO Director-General Ghebreyesus stated that six patients and companions, including a 12-year-old child, were killed and 12 others injured in the attack on Dilling Hospital in Sudan’s Kordofan State.
He noted that the hospital’s radiology department was completely destroyed and its service capacity severely damaged. Ghebreyesus emphasized that the attack occurred at a time when health services were most needed and made the following appeal:
“Health facilities, patients, and health workers must be protected under all circumstances. A ceasefire must be achieved immediately in Sudan, and hostilities must end. Peace is the strongest medicine.”
