Ghebreyesus: Unhealthy diet causes around 8 million deaths per year
Geneva, July 29 (Hibya) - World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced that unhealthy diet is among the leading causes of death globally.
WHO Director-General Ghebreyesus stated that unhealthy diet is one of the world’s leading causes of death and results in approximately 8 million deaths annually.
He pointed out that this situation stems from the aggressive marketing of unhealthy products and said, "Transforming global food systems requires political will, cross-sectoral cooperation, and holding the private sector accountable for improving how food is grown, processed, marketed, and consumed."
