Greek and Iranian foreign ministers discuss Strait of Hormuz
Athens, August 14 (Hibya) - Greek Foreign Minister Yorgos Gerapetritis and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi discussed regional developments and ongoing talks concerning the Strait of Hormuz. The two ministers emphasized the importance of freedom of navigation and maritime security.
Greek Foreign Minister Gerapetritis held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi.
According to a statement by the Greek Foreign Ministry, regional developments, particularly the ongoing talks concerning the Strait of Hormuz, were discussed during the conversation.
Gerapetritis drew attention to the importance of freedom of navigation and maritime security. The two ministers agreed to hold bilateral consultations at the technical level regarding Greece's positions.
The European Union's stance toward Iran was also assessed during the conversation. Gerapetritis and Araghchi agreed to keep communication channels open, including through their newly appointed ambassadors.
