Guterres: Democracy should never be taken for granted
New York, September 15 (Hibya) - United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres said democracy is a daily practice that safeguards human rights, the rule of law and the meaningful participation of all segments of society in political and public life.
United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres said in a statement that democracy should never be taken for granted. Noting that he had personally experienced the challenges of restoring democracy in his own country, Guterres called for a renewed commitment to a democracy in which every voice matters and which delivers peace, dignity and inclusion.
