Guterres: The ocean is the greatest shared resource, but we are failing to use it
New York, June 9 (Hibya) – United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized that the ocean is the greatest common resource, but it is not being used.
UN Secretary-General Guterres noted that the ocean is the greatest shared resource, but it remains unused.
Highlighting the collapse of fish stocks, Guterres said, “Plastic pollution is choking ecosystems. Carbon emissions are causing ocean acidification and warming. But we have a chance to restore marine richness.”
Guterres called on world leaders at the UN Ocean Conference to commit to the actions needed to save the ocean.
