The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that three Israeli citizens reached the Hermon area during the night, crossed the border and entered Syrian territory.

In a statement, the IDF said that a unit dispatched to the area located the individuals and brought them back to Israeli territory.

The three detained individuals were handed over to the Israeli police for further proceedings.

The Israeli military argued that the incident constituted serious interference with military activities being conducted in the area and endangered the safety of soldiers serving there.

The statement said, "The Israel Defense Forces strongly condemns this incident, which constitutes serious interference with operational activities and poses a danger to the safety of IDF personnel operating in the area."

The IDF also said that law enforcement authorities should conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident and impose the necessary sanctions to prevent the individuals from carrying out a similar act again.
