IDF kills Hamas West Brigade commander in Lebanon
Stockholm, May 7 (Hibya) – According to the press service of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the IDF killed the commander of the Palestinian Hamas movement’s West Brigade operating in Lebanon.
The statement said: “Today (Wednesday), the IDF carried out a strike in the Saida area and eliminated terrorist Khalid Ahmed, who served as head of operations for Hamas's West Brigade in Lebanon.”
The press service added that Ahmed had recently been involved in supplying weapons to militants and was also responsible for several attacks against the State of Israel.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported early Wednesday that an Israeli drone strike had occurred in the Willat area of the city of Saida in southern Lebanon, killing one person.
Israeli forces continue attacking Lebanese territory despite a ceasefire agreement reached with Hezbollah last November. IDF troops were supposed to withdraw by January 26, but this did not happen.
The withdrawal deadline was later extended to February 18, 2025. Despite the official ceasefire, the Israeli military continues to carry out regular attacks on areas in Lebanon, including the suburbs of Beirut, claiming to neutralize Hezbollah threats to its security.
