Kallas: Closure of the Strait of Hormuz harms the global economy
Brussels, March 16 (Hibya) - European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas stated that restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz are harming the global economy.
European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas made a statement regarding the strategic situation in the Strait of Hormuz and the security risks in the region.
Drawing attention to the economic and political consequences of closing the Strait of Hormuz, Kallas said: “The closure of the Strait of Hormuz harms the global economy and helps finance Russia’s war. This situation affects our partners in the region and poses a danger to global energy supply.”
Referring to the EU’s steps to ensure security in the region, Kallas stated: “Today, EU foreign ministers will discuss how to better protect maritime activities in the region, including through the contributions of our Aspides naval mission.”
