Kos calls for investigation into incidents during Serbia elections
Brussels, March 31 (Hibya) - European Union (EU) Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos called for a transparent investigation into incidents of violence and irregularities that occurred during Serbia's local elections.
EU Enlargement Commissioner Kos stated that the widespread incidents of violence, threats, and voting irregularities witnessed by the Council of Europe observer delegation during Serbia's local elections are unacceptable.
Emphasizing that free and fair elections are of fundamental importance in democracies, especially in EU candidate countries such as Serbia, Kos said: "We call on the competent national authorities to swiftly and transparently investigate the reported incidents and ensure that those responsible are held accountable."
