Lahbib: Sudan continues to rank high on the EU’s political agenda
Brussels, April 21 (Hibya) – European Union (EU) Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib spoke about the humanitarian crisis and ongoing conflicts in Sudan.
EU Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib said that Sudan continues to rank high on the European Union’s political agenda.
Referring to global support for Sudan, Lahbib said: “At the Berlin Conference last week, €1.5 billion was pledged for Sudan and the region; more than half of that came from the European Union.”
Listing the key conditions needed to ensure lasting stability in the country, Lahbib said: “Sudan needs a ceasefire, protection of civilians, an arms embargo, and ultimately a peace based on the principle of accountability.”
