In his statement, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said, “Finally, it is a day when Israeli and Palestinian families feel positive emotions and, after more than two years of darkness, see a ray of hope.”

Lazzarini emphasized that it is time to build a peaceful future through healing, justice, and mutual recognition, and that the time has come to allow large-scale humanitarian aid to enter, including assistance from UNRWA.

He added, “It is time to allow international journalists to finally enter Gaza freely, to support the heroic work of Palestinian journalists, and to show them respect.”
