Leyen meets Kurdistan Region President Barzani
Brussels, March 16 (Hibya) - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that the Kurdistan Region’s role in ensuring stability in the Middle East is critical and that the European Union will continue its support for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen held a meeting with Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani to assess the security situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region.
During the meeting, the importance of the Kurdistan Region as a stabilizing force was highlighted. Von der Leyen stated that the European Union is determined to work together with the Republic of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region to ensure security and preserve the gains achieved in reconstruction.
The EU announced that it will continue its support for the region.
