Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva made a statement on women's safety and economic autonomy. Lula said women need income, housing, protection from violence, access to health and education, and childcare support in order to be able to choose their own paths.

Lula said he met with women and candidates from the electoral alliance in Belo Horizonte, noting that combating violence against women is at the center of the state's agenda. He said that under the National Pact to Combat Femicide, the time required to assess protective measures had been reduced from 16 days to 3 days and that the network of Brazilian Women's Houses had been expanded.

Lula said that 13 Brazilian Women's Houses are currently operating in the country, while 31 centers are in the implementation phase. He stated that under the pact, 11 new laws and 4 decrees had been enacted, 34,000 arrests had been carried out, 22,000 aggressors were using electronic ankle monitors, and 9,000 women had been provided with tracking devices that can detect an aggressor's approach in advance.

Lula also addressed efforts to protect children, saying that the Digital Statute for Children and Adolescents (ECA Digital) had strengthened the protection of children and adolescents in the digital environment. He said that more than 3,500 daycare centers and preschool education facilities had been built under the new Growth Acceleration Program (PAC), and that 1.8 million new full-time education places had been created.

In the field of health, Lula said that 3.4 million people had received free sanitary pads, more than 8 million mammograms had been performed, and 1.8 million Implanon contraceptive implants had been supplied. He added that the HPV vaccine had reached five times as many adolescents as the global average.
