Luxon: Tourism boosts the economy and puts more money in people's pockets
Wellington, May 7 (Hibya) – New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon emphasized the role of the tourism sector in economic growth and easing the cost of living.
Luxon stated that as tourism increases, businesses like bars, restaurants, and hotels attract more customers, which creates jobs, raises wages, and directly contributes to citizens' incomes.
Accompanied by Tourism Minister Louise Upston, Luxon traveled to Rotorua to attend TRENZ, the country’s largest tourism trade event, once again highlighting the importance they place on the sector.
He announced that the government had simplified visa regulations for digital nomads and remote workers this year, and invested $13.5 million to promote New Zealand in international markets. “Growing the economy and reducing the cost of living is my top priority,” said Luxon.
