On August 8, French President Emmanuel Macron held a phone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan after a meeting in Washington.
During the conversation, France welcomed the agreement reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan, mediated by the United States, which aims to normalize relations.
Macron expressed hope that this agreement would pave the way for the early signing and ratification of a peace treaty, with respect for the interests of both parties.
He also stated: "I reaffirmed my full support for the respect of Armenia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and for France’s commitment to peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus. We are ready to support and contribute to ongoing efforts, including in the field of strengthening ties, in cooperation with all regional actors and partners."
Macron and Pashinyan agreed that, following the July 14 visit to Paris, bilateral relations between the two countries would be permanently deepened in all areas.
