French President Macron said cinema and other creative industries are undergoing a comprehensive transformation due to artificial intelligence, digital platforms and changing financing models.

In a post on social media, Macron recalled that France brought cinema to life 130 years ago, stressing that cinema, television series, animation and video games are not merely industries, but also play an important role in cultural production and in building ties between societies.

Macron said a new era is emerging in the fields of imagery and creativity with the development of artificial intelligence, platforms changing audience habits and financing models evolving, adding that countries cannot act alone during this process.

Macron announced that France and South Korea would bring together creators, producers, investors, platforms and technology-sector actors as part of the Lumière Summit to be held in Saint-Paul-de-Vence.

Stating that the summit aims to build new alliances between cinema, television, video games and technology, protect creators and help cultural works reach wider audiences, Macron emphasized that artificial intelligence and technological transformation should create new opportunities while preserving cultural diversity.
