French President Emmanuel Macron made a statement regarding his conversation with the Emir of Qatar.

Macron said: “I have just spoken with the Emir of Qatar. I reiterated to him France’s full solidarity with Qatar in the face of the unacceptable attacks it is experiencing.”

Referring to Qatar’s security measures, Macron said: “I conveyed to Sheikh Tamim our appreciation for the efficiency of the Qatari armed forces in ensuring the security of everyone in Qatar, including our citizens. We share the importance of ensuring the security of energy supplies; this means allowing tankers to move freely in the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz.”

Emphasizing military cooperation, Macron said: “Our solidarity with Qatar is at an active level. We discussed the defensive military support that France has deployed in the region for Qatar’s benefit, particularly in the airspace. France is a reliable and loyal ally and will continue to fulfill its commitments alongside Qatar.”

Macron concluded: “Qatar and France share the same belief: beyond armed conflict, lasting stability for all will be achieved through de-escalation and negotiations.”
